  Dowel pins are those pins which are usually used for alignment and fixture purposes. These are cylindrical tools which are designed to make machinery safe by fastening different pieces together. These are usually associated with socket screws. These pins absorb load, which allows the socket screw to take up the tensile load. These pins are hardened with an internal thread.

  Nuts make sure that the screw is not getting loose. Sometimes under heavy loads, it might loosen up automatically which results in failure of the connection. This loosening up can be caused by external factors like, weather or corrosion.
